HiddenScan (“we”, “our”, “us”) is operated by Apparent Group Limited. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the HiddenScan mobile application and website (the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HiddenScan, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Our privacy promise
HiddenScan exists to protect your privacy. We treat your data the way we'd want our own treated:
- On-device first. Camera, IR and Wi-Fi scans process locally on your phone. Scan results, images and network details are not uploaded to our servers.
- Minimum collection. We only collect what we need to keep the app running and improve it.
- No selling. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
If you create an account, we collect your email address and (optionally) a display name. If you contact support, we keep a record of that conversation.
2.2 Information collected automatically
We collect basic technical and usage data so we can keep HiddenScan stable and improving:
- Device model, OS version and app version.
- App crash reports and performance metrics.
- Anonymous events (e.g. “user opened Wi-Fi scan”) so we know which features matter.
- Approximate location derived from IP for fraud prevention and language defaults — never precise GPS coordinates unless you opt in.
2.3 Information collected from scans
Scans run on-device. Camera images, IR captures and discovered Wi-Fi devices stay on your phone. Your scan history is stored locally and can be cleared at any time.
3. How we use information
- To provide and maintain HiddenScan.
- To respond to support requests.
- To detect fraud, abuse and security issues.
- To improve our features (using anonymous, aggregated analytics).
- To process subscriptions through Apple App Store and Google Play.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Permissions HiddenScan requests
- Camera — required for the Camera and IR scanners.
- Local network — required for the Wi-Fi scanner to enumerate devices on your current network.
- Notifications (optional) — for scan reminders if you turn them on.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings. The relevant scan mode will then be disabled until the permission is restored.
5. Sharing
We share information only with trusted service providers that help us run the Service — for example, crash reporting, anonymous analytics, customer support tooling, and Apple/Google for subscription billing. We require them to handle your data responsibly and only for our purposes.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, or in connection with a sale of the business.
6. Children
HiddenScan is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA/UK). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. You can request these by emailing hello@apparentgroup.co. You can also delete your account directly inside the app at any time.
8. Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Anonymous analytics and crash data are retained for up to 24 months. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise your associated personal data within 30 days, unless we are required to keep it for legal reasons.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — encryption in transit, restricted access, hardened infrastructure — to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we treat security as a first-class concern.
10. International transfers
Our service providers may be located outside your country of residence. Where applicable, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app or on this page. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
